crafty advice needed for stamping project

hi i hope someone crafty can help me. i bought this months papercraft magazine for the lovely clear stamps on the front. i then went to my local craft shop for an ink pad. however the 'girl' and 'boy' stamps are too long for the pad and as there are no larger pads in the shop i am wondering if i am missing a tool such as a kind of roller the stamps attach too or something. i tried google but all i get is industrial stamping or sites with thousands of stamps but no tools.

I think you can use the stamp upside down - then tap the pad over the image.
    Does that make sense?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rVn6Fpb1OA watch this video to get some idea of how to use stamps, the lady in the video is using an acrylic block but you can use an old cd case as they stick to them as well. Doesn't really matter how big the ink pad is.
