Put some more veg and flowers out from the greenhouse last night. Very pleased with how our sweet peas have come so hopefully they will carry on doing well outside and we will be awash with flowers.

Am also trying some purple podded peas this year which will be interesting. Locally we have a seed swap system and the Heritage Seed Library donated some seeds so we got some of these - http://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/hsl/variety.php?IdNum=369 We will save some to donate back next year so others can also grow the variety.

June OP just gone across so a year off the term :) Cannot believe this will be our 9 month of mortgage payments, seems to have flown by.

I think we timed it quite well (by chance) the interest rate on the same fixed deal we are on is now 0.85% higher, so we have saved over £4k of interest over the fixed period by getting the timing OK - not as good as being on the BoE rate but could have been worse!

I have an essay to write this weekend so cannot enjoy it yet but hopefully have that done soon so I can enjoy the rest of it :)

The essay is taking a while to get going :( Having a internet break :)

I have used the time wisely to cancel my vodafone contract. The term runs out soon, work now give me a phone that I can use for personal calls to so don't need my own. Thats an extra £16 a month that can go else where.

The £10 amazon voucher free with the new credit card came this morning - I had some topcashback money that I also converted to amazon vouchers. I have £55 in there now ready to buy items for the chickens :)

I finally finished my essay after couple of long nights :)

Following on from my vodafone cancelation I had a look at the other monthly / annual subscriptions and cancelled another one I was rarely using - another £25 a year saved.

Looking for some sort of late deal or something to go away this weekend but not found anything yet :(

Ended up going to St Fagan near Cardiff on the weekend. Fantastic place and best of all free to get in. Lovely park for a picnic if the weather is good and lots of historic houses etc.. to have a look around. Recomend it if your in the area.

Everything in our garden has grown so fast over the last few weeks. We now have lettuce and radish ready so enjoying homegrown salads with most meals :) Regretting not putting in some early pots now :( The strawberries going really well so looking forward to them fruiting, even a young blackcurrent bush we got free from a sweed swap event has got some currants on it. Likely to make some ice cream with those :)

Am thinking of getting the first direct account to claim the £125 (and the 8% reg saver). Will start the process just after get paid this month so I can move DDs etc.. in time for next month pay day

Applied for the first direct account but not heard anything back from them yet.

Currently in Germany with work so had a nice couple of days with all expenses paid. In university next week so that will continue :)

We are still looking at getting chickens but not yet decided which hen house to get so will be a while yet before we get them.

Bit worried that all this rain will badly impact the garden but still going well at the moment, strawberries most at danger I think but they are late varieties so hopefully weather will improve to help them along.

First direct want a certified copy of my passport :( Will be a hassle to get this done as has to be by a qualified lawyer! Will ring tomorrow to see what else I can do.

Have put electric DD down to £3 per month as currently have big credit balance. It seems we only use about £25 per month but have been paying £35 since we moved in. Our killer is having to have oil for heating and water (no mains gas). At one stage in house we rented before buying this one it was almost £150 a month! New house has better insulation, windows etc.. plus the wood burner means we often dont need the rads on. We filled up tank in January and still a lot left so hoping it might last 12 months - if so monthly cost will be about £50.

Most firms will do it for £10 - give a local mediumish company a ring, normally you just take to reception and they will get a lawyer to stamp and sign.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Thanks Gallygirl. We live in the middle of nowhere so no medium law firms around!

I will ask the local lawyer who did our house conveyancing if i really have to get it done but looks like a letter from HMRC may do it :)

Time flies eh, sorry not to reply to your earlier posts. Well done on the overpayments, glad you are in a routine, once you get used to the money not existing in your current account, you don't miss it (well that's the theory).

Your fuit and veg plot sounds like it's going well, our garden is lovely but ornamental at the moment, the planting is well thought out but i'm not getting any food from it so some will have to go...

Have you set yourself any interim goals? I am trying to get the mortgage down to below 100k by including all of our savings, it was supposed to happen before xmas but unfortunatley the washing machine, vacuum and blu-ray player all broke within a week...I have had to push the goal back to Feb :o

Chickens are cool, they are actually a brilliant pet as they are fun to watch and also they produce food, the best of both worlds. Now if only I could get the dogs to produce chutney :)
    Orig. (10/2011) £130,400 over 30 years (60 years old) :(

    Aim (11/2023) - £0 (42 Years old) :D
