Strange request I know but we've bought a breadmaker and like putting Sesame/Sunflower seeds etc. into bread and these can be an absolute fortune in the shops. Does anyone know of anywhere, maybe online, where we can get these cheaper, maybe in bulk.
We were looking for the old style weigh-your-own shops where you used to be able to get cereals, flour etc. much cheaper because it wasn't packaged and you weighed out what you wanted. I guess there's none of these places left becuase of the hygiene thing but if anyone knows different I would appreciate knowing it.

Try Steenbergs, they're an organic supplier of spices and stuff like that.
Call 01765 640088 and ask about bulk purchases0 -
If you have access to Makro then they do big bags of sunflower seeds (sorry dont remember the exact size but I think approx 2 or 3kg) for 99p. They also do other types but not sure of the exact details. I guess cash & carry's would be the same.
Julian Graves is another one to try, they are certainly cheaper than the supermarkets and do larger sized packs. They also had 1kg bags of mixed seeds & nuts at about 75% off a couple of weeks ago.
Hope this helps!0 -

I've passed a Julian Graves by Snow Hill station in Birmingham, hadn't really figured what they do. I think i'll go check them out, and my father has a macro card so I might get him to have a look the next time he goes down. Thanks for the advice all of you. That has got to be a damn lot cheaper than the supermarkets.0

I have a weigh-your-own near me called 'easy-weigh'. I get all my herbs, spices, cous cous, flour etc from there.0

You might be better posting this on the "Old Style " board, as there's masses about breadmaking there. It's a mine of information.0

Try one of your local asian/corner shops. They sometime have good value packets of nuts/seeds!

Thanks again for the suggestions, we actually went to the Pak Supermarket prior to vjain's post about asian shops. They were excellent for everything basically. Will be checking out Julian Graves as well and sending a list with my dad to Makro!!!!0
