Best value dental floss

I have tried Oral B Essential floss which is good but it doubled in price to £2.

I think its also Oral B who do the satin floss but this hurts my gums.

The best floss I have used was the Colgate total floss which I picked up around 10 packs for 50p each in Morrisons but they were a clearance item.

I don't want to pay more than £1 for 50m.

What do you guys use?

Flossing is so good.

I use this one from superdrug:

They're on 3-for-2 at the moment, which i think would work out to £1 per pack?

(No it isn't - I think we have a potential troll here!)

If you have big doses of it - like if you eat a few tubes of toothpaste - it won't do you any good. And if you use lots of it in pure form, it is indeed highly poisonous and makes a goot rat killer.

There are some people out there though who have a bit of a problem understanding theraputic dose and toxic dose. In other words, a little can be good, a lot can be harmful.

It's strange that they have a problem with this, as practically anything you can think of can be very dangerous if you have too much of it.

As for 'best value floss - at pence for many metres of the stuff, is this REALLY a big moneysaving concern? Just get what you like, it'll still last you ages!

I have tons of it at my practice that I get free (Fluoridated and non fluoridated). Just be cheeky and ask when you go to the dentist, and I bet you'll get given armfuls of the stuff! We only use it to attatch decorations to the tree at Xmas! :D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I floss 3/4 times a day. I have used a non flouride toothpaste for years and have perfect teeth says my dentist. Lots of studies proving that it is bad for you and teeth, I don't want flourosis.

I prefer `flossers` they`re more expensive but easier to use :)

I always buy the Oral B tape instead of the string floss as I find it so much more comfortable.

It lasts so long that the cost has never been a massive concern - just pick the one you like the most.

  • If you have got a Home Bargains near you, they sell OralB Essential Floss for under £1.
They sell others a bit cheaper but The OralB is the one that suites my teeth.

You can only 'get' fluorosis when your teeth are forming under the gum. Once they're in place, you won't.

    Minor point, but worth making.

You could save money on floss by flossing your "perfect teeth" just once a day, as is usually recommended.
