How to offer work trial or few hours work/training?

Hi!

I've been out of work for a few years while raising my children and my husband has recently left for a teenage bimbo.I now need to go back to work to bring in more money and have found a term time position that I really want.

The problem is I've been out of work 5 1/2 years now and it's likely they'd want someone who hasn't been out of work like that aswell as being experienced in the role.A friend also told me that term time jobs have a huge amount of people applying.

My adviser at the job centre suggested that I could offer a weeks work trial with my application.I have also wondered about possibly offering a few hours a week to show my skills and train before the job starts in January.

I am not sure whether to put this offer in the application form itself or to attach a note or send an email or make a phone call about this as I'd worry that if it was just in the application form they wouldn't even see it and would just scan through, see that I hadn't been working and just throw it in the bin.

Any advice please? It's been a lot tighter since my husband left and I don't want my daughters to miss out on things but I can't see myself having any luck without the offers being known.I know that if I don't get the job I can do some voluntary work to boost my cv but ideally I want to secure a job as soon as possible.

    welcome.

I can't offer specific advice: to me it would sound a bit desperate, I think. But then you are ...

So I'd say make sure you aren't selling yourself short. Skills and experience gained outside the workplace are still valid, so make sure that anything you've done on a voluntary basis is reflected in your application!
