How much for "All round financial advice"..?

Actually all I probably need here is a link as I'm sure this has been covered before.

Basically,in July I'll need 'all round' advice as I'll be remortgaging, reviewing or Life cover, pension all at he same time and would like this to come from one adviser..is this advisable and do they exist..?

How much are they likely to charge and how would I go about finding an all rounder..?

Cheers

There are two main types of advisor, investment and non investment. General IFA's can generally handle both, so pensions, other investments, insurances (including life cover) and mortgages.

However mortgages have beome increasingly specialised, so Mortgage Brokers are specialists who generally are not regulated for investment/pension activity, but are specialists in mortgages and insurances.

I would recommend you find a mortgage broker for your mortgage, a general IFA for your pension and then ask them both for their advice and quotes for life cover.

www.unbiased.co.uk is the database for UK IFAs.

I agree with Rick totally on specialisation. There is so much happening on both mortgage and investment class business that you cant be doing both and do the best job. There are plenty of general practitioner advisers out there but you end up with a Jack of all trades and a master of none.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

What Ive been saying for a while here. Some of the mortgage advisers here claim they experts on protection and mortgages.
Common sense tells us this cant be possible. Keeping abreast of the mortgage market PROPERLY AND FULLY is a full time occupation.

Trying also to keep up with the blizzard of protection small print ammendments, compliance and products is simply foolish.

I asked a mortgage packager the other day what the commision split was bewteen them and us as I required the figure to produce a COMPLIANT KFI.
I was semi surprised when the packager told me no other broker asks for this info, they just make up the figures.

Theres just one of thousands of shortcuts brokers take, no wonder some seem able to claim they are mortgage and protection experts
