Updating CV

Are there any specific tools or templates I can use that I don't need to pay for. Everything I look at template wise seems to want me to pay!!

I did my own CV in open office and then saved it as a PDF document as most employers accept that format. It got me an interview and second interview so must have been acceptable.

Reed have a CV builder that is free. Only thing is that is has on the bottom the reed logo.

Just type it up in Word
  • Type it up in word, look online and you will find lots of different examples of layouts, section headings, orders - mainly choose what you like, suits your area and experience etc.

PDF are fine for direct to employers, arguably best because it will always display the same.

Agents amend CVs (eg taking off contact details) so will want it in Word format.

It seems that nowadays a CV that simply describes your work history and the duties involved with your roles isn't enough.
Now it has to be about how you "thought outside the box", were able to "go that extra mile", how much extra you "can bring to the table" or various other cliches.
