WHS2101 Hoover upright cleaner half price reduced from £150 to £74.99. I bought one in the summer when it was half price, then it went back up to full price, now its reduced again.

I saw this on their Argos.TV channel around a month ago (at £74.99) and have to say the demonstration made the hoover look utter rubbish. The presenter had to run the vacuum over the same bit of the rug several times to hoover up the crumbs/bits they had poured down and even at the end of the demo you could see there was still lots of crumbs left that the hoover hadn't picked up!

Thats interesting. I was stunned by the suction and how the brushing really made the carpet look good. I'm really pleased with it so I guess you have to speak as you find.

Argos, like most retailers, buy items from manufacturers with every intention of selling it for 28 days (legal requirement) at a higher price, before 'half-pricing' it to what it's intended to sell for anyway.

We as consumers all fall for it!

Whilst this Hoover seems like a bargain, it was never a £150 item despite the price originally. Argos price it like that in the hope their margins will get a boost by some people buying it, before 'reducing' it to make it seem a huge bargain.

EVERY retailer does this, so rather than look at the original cost look at the current cost and ask yourself "is it worth it?". If so - buy it.

Not bad but you could currently get a better deal in tescos with their double-up clubcard voucher promotion.

Got this Hoover http://www.hoover.co.uk/products/1/vacuum-cleaners/3/bagless-upright/2/dust-manager/100/dust-manager/ from Tescos this week. Tesco's web price and Hoover's web price was £199.00.

My local tesco store was selling it for £89-00. So I doubled-up £40-00 clubcard vouchers to £80 and used other clubcard vouchers to pay for the remaining £9 balance; so in effect it was free !:):j

    HTHs.

I do think £150 was a ridiculous price but am well happy with £74.99 and Tesco double up wasn't available at the time. Instead of buying another WHS2101 we did use the double up clubcard voucher for the hoover mentioned in the above post for £89 my sis but I forgot to mention that and its very good also.
