Not a chance. No Magistrate in the country would give an 18 year old a licence.

Magistrates don't give licenses anymore, your local council does; anyone over the age of 18 can take a course, pass the test and apply for the license, which if you have no criminal convictions or any other restrictions, has to be granted.

I got my license at 19 - ran a pub for a few months as acting manager.

If you go for a chain, they won't take you seriously. You wouldn't be able to afford a loan to buy a free house.

It's best just working in a pub for a few hours a week whilst you're doing something else, then when you have more money and experience to look into it.

Incorrect. Personal licences can be gained at 18 or older, subject to an acceptable pass on an 8 hour Personal Licence course.

Dont you need to have a huge amount of cash/loan to be a landlord or are there many schemes for running a pub.

You'd need some cash if you wanted to set up on your own, or if you wanted to run your own pub which was owned by/tied to a brewery.

You wouldn't need any cash if you wanted to work as a manager in a pub/club, but you'd need a personal licence.
