Nice gift for newly engaged couple?

My sister and my future BIL (love saying that :D) got engaged a couple of weeks ago and I'd like to include something wedding-y in their christmas hamper... Nothing too expensive or to do with the actual wedding as they haven't started planning yet and are looking at a long engagement.

I was thinking about a specific book that you can write all like plans in or something? I dunno, like a diary? Is there something like that?

  • How about a savings pot? I bought one of these for my sister when she got engaged...

  • They do exist - http://www.johnlewis.com/263905/Product.aspx?source=63258 and there are more. Try searching "wedding planner journal"

However, I just used a nice notebook - much less restrictive as you can write what you want where you want, stick in ideas from magazines etc. Why not buy a lovely notebook, and on the first page do a nice design that says "Sarah's Wedding Notes" obviously with her name though!

I was bought a "proper" wedding planner but I never used it, I preferred a little notebook in my handbag at all times!

Awesome, thanks guys :) Will have a scout around for a nice notebook I think that I can personalise... She's got about five money jars already for various funds plus when her house got burgled a few years ago one of the bits they got away with was the two terracotta pots... I say got away with, they dropped them on the concrete on their way out and took the money :/

Just picked up two nice notebooks in the Works for £2.99 BOGOF, they're green (her wedding colours) paisley print and really pretty. Since they were BOGOF they can have one each, use them for something else or not even use them at all. They don't look that cheap either, but I know my sister - it's the thought that counts!

I'm going to put a little slip on the front page of the top one saying that I thought they'd be nice to wedding planning etc. :)
