Pre ordering question

Hi, I am hoping to pre order an item for christmas which is released on November 18th. I want to pre order it through amazon (have an e voucher to use up). The 18th is payday for us, so will they only take the money out on the 18th or after or has anyone experienced payments being taken earlier?
I've previously only pre ordered dvd's etc where £10 odd could be left in the bank just in case but this is a larger amount!

They normally take the payment on the day that the item is dispatched. I ordered pre ordered something last week and they dispatched on the release date.0
