Bye EDF - I've had enough

Started off badly - they insisted that my gas usage was going to be £1 a month. Took ages to convince that they really should change my direct debit amount.

Now I've had a humongous estimated bill and they're telling me they're going to take £545 out of my account soon. I dont think so - DD cancelled!

Time to switch to someone who actually knows what they're doing - I've had enough of their ineptitude now.

  • I too had major issues with EDF. To list a few they included.
    • Poor response to issues
    • No online access available to me from Nov 20-> May 2011.
    • CS waiting times of up to an hour to speak with and advisor.
    • Innacurate Billing.
    • Terrible Hold Music :p
However they were competitive with the OS7 prices including the £180 Bonus to switch to them. I have now moved to SP Direct 2012 which is not as cheap as OS7 was before the hikes but it worked out £90 cheaper P/a than the increased prices for OS7. The SP Online is on of the best Utility services I have came across to be fair.

    Yes I agree.:)
  • im still waiting on my final electric bill from them, and i left in May!!!!!!! supposedly they havent received my meter reads from the new supplier, but i checked at work and they had been sent so they are talking rubbish. im just waiting on the bill dropping through the door when they can be bothered to send it
  • Actual Gas usage for Jan-July = 800 units
Actual Gas usage for July-Oct = 200 units

EDFs estimate for usage Jul-Oct = 1600 units !!!! (i.e. double that used in previous 6 months and its the summer - something wrong here!)
  • It gets worse....

Now they're sending me letters threatening me that I owe £78!!! !!!!!!.

Also, I've recieved a random elec only bill one month after my last one. Why one month and why elec only?

Tied in to them until end of Dec only and they I'm off. I'd rather spend double on my gas/elec than have to spend hours sorting things out all the time !!!!

It's small consolation for the ongoing problems but you may want to try the bona fide EDF on the Forum.

I got a recent problem resolved, not by any logical answers, but a £20 goodwill payment.

  • It seems socialmedia support has gone the same way as the phone lines. i.e. they've given up now too.

I can safely say that every bill, every dealing, EDF have dont NOTHING right first time since I switched to them this year.

Cant wait to switch to someone else.

    I have to agree entirely.
I swapped to EDF on the promise they'd remove my PPMs for free, no one else would.

I've waited 4 months for the electric meter changeover (from PP) and am still waiting 11 months later for gas meter changeover (from PP)
The never answer the phone in less than 45 minutes, I haven't had an electric bill (despite asking many times and inputting the correct reading) in over 7 months.
I've emailed dozens of times (including the CEOs address) and phoned 6 times at least (before I gave up entirely).

They ignore requests for the accounts to be cancelled and now I have one PPM and one DD meter I can't get a good deal on dual fuel any longer.

They are utterly useless and incompetent, they can't sort bills out, answer phones or emails correctly or timely or stick to their promises made.

The only thing that EDF seem to do promptly and with any vigour is to sign you up initially, it's ALL downhill from there.

I expect the only time I'm likely to see this fabled electricity bill is when I change suppliers (I will be changing the moment I can back to SE who at least answer the damn phone!)
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.
  • Now they are no longer cheap who the heck will bother joining them??
