Lovely recipes - Able and Cole

Options
Just reading "A Life Stripped Bare" by Leo Hickman (heartily reccomended!) and decided to have a look at the Able and Cole website to see if they delivered in my area. Sadly they don't yet, but while having a look at the site I found some gorgeous recipes :p and lots of 'em!

Here's a link for anyone who would like to have a look (hope it works - never posted a link before)

  • I get their nationwide delivery once a fortnight on top of my local veg box delivery as it tends to have a wider selection of veg than my local supplier). There are always some smashing recipe ideas on the invoice. I also bought their book 'Cooking outside the box' which is a great season by season cookbook, as well as being an amusing read

Thank you-I've just finished reading " A Life Stripped Bare" too-really enjoyed it but hadn't thought about looking at the Abel and Cole site as have never wanted to sign up for deliveries from them-we have a good local geengrocer and also grow a lot of our veg.

I did enjoy " A Life Stripped Bare"-so many books/articles about people trying to live a greener life seem to involve going to live in the wilds, installing wind turbines etc-all of which is impractical for us at the moment. It was good to read about somebody trying to become greener while still living in a city and carrying on his normal job.

the recipes are great-esp. when confronted with a bizarre vegetable i've never heard of (black salisfy was the most recent oddity! ).

  • There is an Abel & Cole cookbook too (Cooking outside the box) which gets good reviews on amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooking-Outside-Box-Seasonal-Cookbook/dp/0007230702/

TheBookpeople have it for £6.99 but only in the VIP section (for points passport holders:ie those who have placed 3 or more orders in the past 6 months).
