NI water chief chief executive Trevor Haslett is to resign his post at NI water after only 9 months in the job.He intends to return to "more lucrative" work in the private sector. His salary at present although only half the salary of the last ceo who also jumped ship is £130,000 per year.Yet again it will be interesting to see how much of a "golden goodbye" he receives in comparison to anyone else who walks out of their job.I bet edward smith (captain of the titanic) would have loved the opportunity to have left his sinking ship and take a large payoff whilst leaving the passengers/workers to their fate.

Previous CEO's salary was £180k, plus expenses. Trevor Haslett is also in receipt of expenses, therefore not on half the pay of predecessor.0

Think I could struggle by on that, wonder how other employees in that company will feel when they follow him next year without a large golden goodbye?:cool:counting down the time I got left.:beer:0 -
As he is only Acting CEO I don't think he will qualify for a Golden Goodbye. The guy wants a 2 year contract, for security, at £150k pa, which is hardly a fortune for the responsibility. The company were prepared to offer that deal but the Department have blocked it. So hardly a gold digger and from what I have gleaned he is considered a highly respected, knowledgeable and capable person.0

That "highly respected person" told a union rep who questioned him on members worries about their jobs being taken by unskilled outside contractors he was exaggerating and, when said "highly respected person" was leaving the meeting held at a main NIWS depot he had to get one of the owners of an outside contractors, who was in a different office to discuss taking over NI water employees jobs to move his BMW which was blocking him from leaving.0 -
He won't go imho, it's a move to secure a contract and better salary0

... or maybe he knows the state of the water system and reckons we will have serious troubles again this year... which he doesn't want on his CV!Always overestimating...0

Were you listening at the door? If you are correct why hasn't the union brought this into the public arena?
I believe it has,on a number of occasions,in fact NIWS have been criticized quite a few times for their "tendering policies" which were anything but proper.counting down the time I got left.:beer:0
