retraining as a Bookkeeper

Hi, i'm thinking of taking on a part time college course to retrain as a Bookkeeper.
The course i've found to start off is a Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping at one of the local FE colleges.
Does anyone who has been down this route think this course is a good starting point? Do you have any tips?

I went on this course in the summer and did really enjoy it, also learnt alot, at some times it was challenging but I passed with a First Class Pass. I would have gone on to do Level 2 but there werent enough people who wanted to do it to justify the course so I havent but you can go straight to AAT after the Level 1 if you want to.Slimming World Member - Started 05/02/150

Brilliant, thanks Sally, that's encouraging to know. The particular college i'm looking at only seems to do level 1 so i think i'd have to travel further afield to do level 2. Well done on passing the course! :T0 -
Have you enquired whether you could go straight onto the level 2 course - level 1 will be very basic .0

You may be able to do an AAT right in at Level 2
Do this test to see what you know already

You can study in the classroom, at home alone or an online classroom

Thanks Ladymissa...those links are very useful. I've applied for the information pack! According to this site I could go in at level 2 so I will look into this.
Thanks to everyone who replied x0 -

AAT can be done as an Accountancy Apprenticeship if that is an option for you?0

that's great then if you can do level 2 and you should hopefully be able to do that in a year. It's good if you want to do it at home at your own pace or attend a class
good luck
I'm not sure yet whether i want to do it from home or with a class...decisions! thank you xsaintjammyswine wrote: »AAT can be done as an Accountancy Apprenticeship if that is an option for you?
