Giving 1 month's notice - advice please?

OK, a little premature I know, but I have an interview next week, and I currently have 2 part-time jobs, both of which require 1 month's notice to leave.
If I should get the new job, how does 1 month's notice work?
If I put it in writing on for example 9th November (I will hand deliver both direct to each Manager), would I be free to leave the job at the end of my working day on 8th December? Or does the notice start from the end of 9th, ie I would have to work until end of my working day on the 9th December?
Sorry if thick question, but only ever been made redundant before, never left through my choice!

Legally notice starts the day AFTER it is issued.0 -
but to be honest, most employers wont quibble as long as you say something like "my last working day will be........"0
