dont forgat they ( like PCWORLD ) add the FULL price of the software into the package as well.
The hardware itself can be bought for under the £500, that i am confident of.
You can get the software somewhere else. ( normally a friend will let you borrow their copy of something like word or office)0 -
Of course "borrowing" software is actually copyright theft and would not be condoned by Martin.
Best thing to do is keep an eye out for a better bundle, although Works 7.0 is probably OK for many people. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
I was in Woolworths the other day and noticed they had a PC - OPTIMA 3200 DVDRw PC package at half price (was £999.99 now £499.99)
Hope this helps someone out there!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Unfortunately, the method of getting "the software from somewhere else" (friend etc) is illegal, as it's software theft.
If you want to know more about this form of theft, have a look at the F.A.S.T. website.0 -

They dont say that they were selling it at 999.99 do they?
Not sure what they mean by "Standard Ports"
And Im a bit suspicious about "Sound - Built in 6 Channel Sound Onboard"
I remember I had a Soundblaster AWE 32 which has 32 channels...and that was in the 1990s.0 -
Most PCs with built-in on-board sound are fine for most uses - 6 channel in this context means it can run six separate speakers.
Still think you'd get a better PC from Dell though. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
6 channel sound is likely to be referring to 5.1 surround sound output (mainly standard on motherboards with onboard sound). 1 left, 1 right, 1 centre, 2 rear and 1 subwoofer.
Note that you will have the outputs only and further equipment would be required i.e the speakers for full surround sound
