MIssed DD fees etc are one thing, but if you sign up to ridiculous charges, you can't expect your employers to cover them if your payday is a day late. !!!! happens, deadlines get missed from time to time.0 -

Ok. This looks promising. Maybe its a pay-day-loaner with some self awareness,,,,grayselegy wrote: »Im not complaining about their interest charges.........
Failed. And you started with such promise as well. I'm terribly disappointed, but strangely not surprised.grayselegy wrote:Q. Can I go to a County Court and reclaim the excess charge?
How can you start by saying you understand their charges then end by saying you don't understand their charges?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
If it was agreed in his contract of employment that he will be paid on a specific date then, yes he would...!heathcote123 wrote: »So if OP signed an agreement to give up three million pounds and his left testicle, his boss would be liable for that too?
As an employee who signs a contract you are bound, by employment law, to adhere to all conditions within that contract. If you don't... your employer has every right to subject you to disciplinary procedures.
If the employer doesn't adhere to his/her conditions of the signed contract then you are well within your rights to question it and seek recompense.
If I continually turn up late for work... I get verbally warned, then warned in writing then if needs be, employment terminated. Correct me if I'm wrong?
Is it then not right that if an employer fails to pay its employees on time they should be held accountable? If I was an employer and I failed to pay my employees on time then I would expect to compensate all of them for any charges incurred. Everyone has payments to make. We usually set up these payments to coincide with our pay day to make things easier.
Therefore, if an employer messes up with paying employees they should hold their hands up and accept responsibility. I would...!Marge... if the bible has taught us nothing else, which it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to girls sports like hot oil wrestling, foxy boxing and such and such...! Homer Simpson0 -

If your pay day is late due to your employers oversight then yes, you can...!
These excess charges were applied as a result of the money not being available. From what I can gather, the OP was prepared to pay the interest as agreed. What he doesn't agree with is having to pay a late payment charge on top which is not his fault.
Deadlines do indeed get missed... but we expect to be reasonably compensated when it happens.Marge... if the bible has taught us nothing else, which it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to girls sports like hot oil wrestling, foxy boxing and such and such...! Homer Simpson0 -

Actually I've been paid late only twice in 25 years. On both occasions my employer (two different companies) offered to pay ANY charges incurred due to late payment. No reason for deadlines to be missed nowadays.0 -

I've been watching the popcorn lady for nearly 40 minutes and the bag of popcorn doesn't seem to be getting any smaller.

I completely disagree with you Andy. People need to have some common sense when managing their finances, rather than blaming others.
When I got paid on the 20th, I had most of my direct debits come out on the 25th. And when payday became the 25th, I moved them to the 1st.
If I did ever have something fail to come out on payday, I wouldn't dream of going to an employer expecting them to pay my charges. I'd consider it my own stupid fault. And I suspect quite a few employers wouldn't take too kindly to being asked anyway.
Why put yourself in such a potential position, when the minimum of organisation easily prevents it?“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing at all.” - Roosevelt0
