Unpaid Holiday Dilemma

25 plus bank holidays? Who told you 21? Is this pro rata for the contract time?
At the end of the day no company will really let you take unpaid holiday if you have holiday to take and then its all up to them when you take it.0 -
Whether you have enough work to do is not really relevant to the holiday issue, as someone else said, but are you not looking for something else?
I know most people will say it's not wise to leave a job, but I couldn't sit doing nothing all day. I got a job many years ago as a temp and had nothing to do after the first 2 hours.
I spoke to my line manager and said that I'm afraid I couldn't do that and was leaving.0 -

Yes I am looking for something else. I've been for a couple of interviews recently, one really wasn't for me and the other they wanted someone who could start straight away and do a handover within the week. As I have to give 4 weeks notice I couldn't do it.
I can't handle the nothing to do all day and the skills I have are being affected.
I have been considering it for a while but the holiday issue is just another contributing factor. I have worked for other companies which were fine about people taking unpaid leave - and before people bite, I know each company is different.
I think I have made my decision, I am speaking with my LM tomorrow and see what the outcome of that is - it's not just the holiday issue it is the other things too.0 -

Nope they said 21 days holiday plus bank hols for the full 9 months duration of the contract.
And I have taken 11 days of that.0 -
I had pre-warned them that I would be taking holiday over Christmas and that gave them the chance to say if there would be a problem over it they didn't was (and again I quote) 'oh that will be nice'
At the iterview?
Fixed term contract, you make commitments part of the agreement.
Same for any job you lay out your pre planned holidays as part of the acceptance.
Paid holidays should be prorata full time workers, but watch out for holiday year overlapping contract period, not all companies get this right.
There should be no conflict of what you paid holidays are work out what you are entitled to and make sure you get them.0
