Closing accounts

After readin various threads on here im not sure what to do.

I cleared my capital one account a year or 2 ago, the card expired they never resent another one I am in credit by £4.16. I am in the process of claiming just under £1400 off them. Should i close the account or not, there is no chance i will ever spend on it, will it wreck my already shoddy credit rating if i leave it open.

thanks

  • Hi Saintly

I'm not so sure on this one. My advice would be to try the consumer action group https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk

Lots of great advice when it comes to claiming charges back.

    Good luck :)
  • I'd do as suggested above, but if you do decide to close the account you need to spend the £4.16 or when you ring them up and ask for the account to be closed get them to send you a cheque for that amount as CC companies don't close accounts if your in credit with them.

I'd personally keep the CC account open until the charges are reclaimed, they may suggest to close the acount as part of the deal to when you get your money back.

    Good luck in your choice!
