  • Have to echo others concerns of how you resolve disputes if it is only once a year.

My first ever employer was something like:

Payday: Last Thursday in the month

    Included:
Contracted Hours: Up to the Friday a week and a half before payday
Overtime: up to 3rd Wednesday of the month
Commission:up to 12th of the month

Certainly most people's opinion was that it was done in such a mixed up way because it made it so hard to check that the numbers were right.

I believe that some employees in order to keep their jobs and to keep the company trading have agreements whereby they work overtime when the company has a big order which they don't receive payment for, and then they have the time that is owed off with pay when the work is slack. This in the past would never have been accepted but in this day and age being flexible is the word, and after all a job is better than no job.
