Help - Error signing up to Equifax free trial.

This afternoon I have been trying to sign up for the Free Trial with Equifax.

I enter all the personal details, previous addresses etc and then verify who I am.....but whenever I submit my card details it comes up with an error saying to call 0870 010 0583.

I've tried all the options to speak to someone about this error, but all I get is recorded messages about their website address or write to their address etc etc.

Does anyone know of a customer service number that I could ring and speak to a real person about this error?

Many Thanks
Claypole

  • We had the same problem and apparently it was because my DH was putting in both initials of his middle name. Don't know if that applies in your case but if it does just put your first middle name initial in.

Cannot help you with Equifax, but is it specifically them you need, or will Experian do?

I recently signed up with them and their telephone support has been great, second to none, even on a 0800 number!

I signed up with Experian earlier today. I'm waiting on a password/code to be posted to me.
After reading Martin's article about the Credit Agencies, I thought I'd sign up to both of the 30 day free trials.

I just tried to login in again and this time it gave me a reference number I could enter and get through to speak to someone. Fingers crossed in a minute or two I can finally login and check my credit report.

(I am trying to find out whether it states if my Marbles credit card account is still open or not, as I keep phoning them to make sure it is closed, but I keep getting statements sent with 1p credit (which I have said numberous times to give it to charity) but they don't seem to do that and still keep the account open.)

Does the card expire before you would be starting to pay?

I had the same problem with one of them and in the end thought stuff it, I'm not that desperate to see my rotten credit record.

Well I've just managed to logon but it's still coming up with an error whenever I try to submit my payment details.

No whatatwit, the card expires in August, but I'm thinking the same as you, Stuff Equifax and be patient and wait for Experian.

I may try again later (once I have calmed down). At least I have a reference number now so I can call again and actually speak to someone real.
  • Try ringing their free phone number: 0800 7839421. You may get a better response if they're paying for the call!

    Thanks Donedoingdebt.
I'm going to try once more, if that fails I'm going to call the free phone number.

Success I've managed to submit my payment details and sign up to the 30 day trial.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and/or help.
