Church wedding after divorce

Has anyone married at the Church of England after a divorce?
My OH and I would just to marry in our local church, but I'm worried they won't marry us as I've been married before.
I know it is possible and depends on the vicar, just wondering if anyone had been through this and had any tips they could give me?
I'm going to ring the vicar later, but don't want to start with 'I'd like you to marry us, but I'm divorced!'

My brother has! It seemed to depend on the vicar and their personnal views on marriage. My brother was asked how his marriage ended and because his wife had left him for another man he was quite happy to marry him to his new wife (it was her first marriage) It was also their local village church and they went to some of the services beforehand to have their faces recognised!!!!0

Thanks for that. My ex and I were married 7 years and he left me for another woman (after he got her up the duff first!) so hopefully (as awful as it sounds) that will go in my favour. It's my fiance's first marriage so fingers crossed! Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0

My cousin and her OH got married in a church. it was his second marriage, I'm not sure why his first marriage ended, though.0

I think as long as you know the vicar and he's seen you in his services all should be ok. He won't know everyone of his congregation's situations. I would maybe have a word when you next see him and casually mention how you go about it given your previous situation. I'm sure it will be fine.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

My husband had been married before and our vicar didn't take too kindly to the fact he was a divorcee, she put us through the hoops which was hell at the time as I was very very keen to be married at our local church as I had sung in the choir for 12 years. We had to meet her explain why we wanted to be married etc, she made us wait nearly 2 days while she mulled it over, which was torture in itself but on hindsight I guess she wanted to make sure my husband was sure of what he was doing this time!! The only thing she wouldn't allow was our bans to be read out in chuch, we had to go to the local registry office and have them displayed there after having both been interviewed (and feeling like criminals) separately. At the end of the day it was a lovely wedding day, perfect service, our two children have since been baptised there and we do attend during the year. Hope you have an easier ride with your vicar!!0

We and my OH are both divorced, and we get married a week on Friday, in church....
We rang the vicar, he was fine about it - when we met we had a chat about everything, our past marriages and our future marriage.
We had to attend marriage preparation classes too, and 4 of the 5 couples attending were divorcees....
