no working hours given HELP

I have searched the internet high and low for a answer for my wife and hope some one here can provide it.

So my wife works part time on a tues, thurs, fri every week and has done for 2 or 3 years after having the kids
so we book our first holiday as a family for 2 weeks and the wife books 6 days off work.
We return on the Wednesday and she contacts work on that day to check the rota. she is told she has no working hours allocated for the next 2 day.. (she is very confused by this as she did not request a holiday for these 2 days and should be in work) Both my wife and I decide to take the coming tuesday off to do some xmas shopping so she contacts her work and books the tuesday off 48 hours in advance. But this evening she gets a voice mail off her work saying they have heard nothing from her and have allocated all her shifts to other members of staff.... now im confused,:think: I dont think think she will get paid for this time off and my wife is ready to go in there and hang some one,

so can any one give me any advice on where she stands with this

What does her contract say re her hours? Am confused as you say she works particular days but then took about shifts being allocated.

Could her booking holidays have gone astray so they think she has done a bunk?

if she is bank staff the hours aren't guaranteed so probably people have had the hours for saving up for Christmas

Who has she spoken to when she contacted work? Was it a peer or a superior? Might be that a message hasn't gotten through somewhere along the line or as previously mentioned there was a mistake with holiday leave, when did she get this confirmed?
