Body Odour :(

I've always had a bit of a problem with BO but it's a bit worse recently.

I use 3 different roll ons in rotation (incl mitchum), plus impulse/own brand deodourant spray. I try to avoid synthetic fabrics. I still smell by the afternoon in work, which is no good at all.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've read that coffee can cause BO, and I drink at least 6 cups a day, so I'm going to try cutting back, but other than that, I'm stumped. :(

Can you smell it yourself in the afternoon. Are you sure you do or are you just 'wet'

Do you shower every day, twice a day, clean clothes everyday (sorry no offence)

There really is a medical condition that can be corrected but sometimes we only think we smell.
Have any of your friend told you so, have you asked them.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Shower every morning and fresh clothes every day.

It's not that I perspire loads and loads, but I do start to notice the smell by the end of the day. On a bad day it's really obvious. Usually it's just starting and I notice it as I'm packing up. The problem is if I notice it, then others will, as my sense of smell isn't great.

My husband is honest to say yes or no when I get home, so it's not just my imagination.

I dont have a problem with it as such but I started to notice a couple of months ago as I was rushing to work and could smell it a bit despite having a shower a few hours earlier. I got some driclor from boots - buy it off the shelf - was a bit pricey at around £6 you put it on the night before like a normal roll on, after about 4 days I stopped noticing any smell and now I apply it at night about twice a week. I'd give that a try if I were you, I found it stung a bit at first but it really helped me

Have you tried something like Perspirex? I use these and find they pretty much stop me sweating at all - you do need to be careful with use (read the instructions!)

If that doesnt work, it really wuld be a good idea to see your GP, like I say, it is a medical condition and you can get help for it
if its getting too much for you.

  • Maybe see your GP? Could be a chemical inbalance causing it. x
  • Mitchum or Impulse won't do anything ... you need something stronger. Perspirex works well but I find it a bit too strong, and I got itchy when I used it... The best deodorant in my opinion is Vichy 48h, expensive but one of the few that really work.

I have heard that if you sweat loads you can get botox injections in your sweat glands which stops it. However in your case it sounds more like the smell of the sweat rather than too much of it.

Hate to ask - but are you overweight? Not being rude (I promise, as i am a bit on the hefty side myself!) but sometimes it can be hard to get really clean if you have loads of fleshy folds...

it could also be your diet. Certain foods can come out in your sweat and be quite smelly. Maybe try keeping to bland foods and loads of water for a while and see how that helps.

I know this may seem a little silly but first, try the cheapest method.

I have a similar problem and someone recommended I use baking soda. Rub some into your armpits and then use deodorant on top. Baking soda absorbs and neutralizes the smell.

Worth a try and works quite well for me.
  • Thanks I've been using baking soda for a few days now and it seems to be working well so far. Will explore the high performance deos if it doesn't work long term - they look good but they're certainly pretty expensive!
