Not quite sure how I got myself volunteered for this but basically I'm trying to knit jumpers for elderly whippets (please no laughing). They just get into a complete mess with normal bed coats so jumpers were the answer to stop them feeling the cold (they feel the cold more so than most dogs). I've looked on the web and on here but most patterns seem to suit lap dogs rather than something as slender as a whippet. Does anyone know where I could get a pattern (preferably free) for a jumper that would fit a whippet please?

Probably won't help you, but have you seen Laneys Jumpers/ for Greyhounds and Whippets - both of my greys have one. Might give you some ideas?0

Thats a lovely idea, I found a few free ones, you just need to check if they are suitable, one is from adopt a greyhound so might be a bit big

The one below has been mentioned on a few forums and used for whippets

I have also bought from these two online stores with no problems, the american one (naked sheep) is run by a Welsh lady who was lovely and postage not expensive, i'm sure if you email she will have a look at the pattern to check sizes for you

I was given a knitting pattern for a whippet coat a while ago and promised to make it for them. I've lost it! And now I am trying and failing to find a knitting pattern for a whippet online, preferably free. It's no good if it is not for a whippet as they are unusual shapes, very narrow in places so need to be specific for the breed. Can anyone help?

The first link Apollonia has a lovely whippet coat but makes you but it in a multi pack with other patterns for gloves/mits and other dog coats for small dogs and so costs more than I'd want to pay which is annoying. But thanks for trying, that is the first specific to whippet coat pattern I'd seen.
BB, I'd found that greyhound one on ravelry but am not expert enough to reduce it in size to whippet size, plus it's not my dog and I can't measure it and it is a surprise Christmas present so can't ask either.
However I think I might be saved by the bell as someone thinks they have one!
Thanks for your help though, I appreciate it."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0
