Weight Loss / drop a dress size help

I need help....
I have my xmas do on the 10th December & would really like to lose weight / drop a dress size for it (sure i'm not the only one).
Trouble is, I love my food & hate exercising. I used to own a wii but could never be bothered to go on it. I sold that and got the kinect but my oh is on the xbox most nights playing his game so I don't really get a chance to go on it.
I have decided now that I want to do something with my size. I am 5 foot 4 and a size 16.
I was hoping people would leave their comments on how they have managed to lose weight / drop sizes to give me some encouragement.

I wish you lived near me I would make you come to the gym with me daily. Coz I need a gym buddy so bad and no one lives in my area that I know and I find it hard making friends coz of self confidence issues.
Having someone is a BIG help. So if you can get a partner it will be the best step you take.0 -
Thanks. I tried the gym with my mum a couple of years ago but I don't think she really helped to push me, we were lucky if we were there an hour, twice a week. I wouldn't go on my own as no confidence.Make £2012 in 2012 #115: £919.86 / £2012

sorry, but the only safe way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more!
walking is good, especially if you are going uphill. an ipod (or similar!) makes life a whole lot easier
So. You more or less have a month. If you put your mind to it, you can do it. But only you can make yourself do it. We can give you all the advice in the world, but if your head is not in the right place, its really just a waste of time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Also I can tell you my plan has worked I dropped a dress size. And I'm still going but this week I've upped everything... As in food is the cleanest it can be without killing myself and Gym is 5 times a week and twice 2 times (classes)
In simple terms if you wanna drop it fast we're about the same right now and my goal is now to keep going for the 13th Dec. So we have the same time scale. I'm a vegi. So anything that I have said where I use quorn you can do grilled chicken.
Sorry yeh as I was saying in simple terms.. VERY simple terms...
DO NOT TOUCH JUNK FOOD. AT ALL.
Cut ALL drinks except plain water and you can add SUGAR FREE dilute robinsons if you want. Keep a Volvic 1ltre bottle next to aim to drink 2 litres. Having a bottle with you helps me keep track and I drink just over 2 a day
Cook two portions in one go. Eat half save half for the next day. Eases the whole cooking thing. If you work then make food to take with you for lunch.
And if you can exercise as much as you can once a day. And at night I do crunches and push ups and some leg exercises. Just enough to make me tired coz I have trouble sleeping.
AND SLEEP AT LEAST 7-8 HOURS. Get in bed and sleep. Really will help.
Now for food... this is only my suggestion
Not a huge Salad fan here but find out which greens you DO like and eat them as a salad. My salad: Spinach leaves, 4-6 walnuts, low fat cottage cheese, cherry tomatos and carrots. (Waitrose cottage cheese I found is the tastiest coz I had a hard time eating Tesos or Sainsburys)
I buy 2 chicks egg whites in a box. (Waitrose again) It lasts for about 7 days has 14 egg whites in it I think. Make an omelet with that, red pepper little low fat cream cheese or anything you like.
My ideal day.... I say idea coz sometimes I stray. BUT I WILL NOT from now on. I HAVE to do this...
Wake up. Green tea, vitamins d, b complex with c and multi and cod liver oil tablet and gym
Home. Shower. Egg white omelet and walnuts or bran flakes
Lunch quorn balls in tomato sauce and a salad. Or other quorn products. Have a look at things and see what u can eat
Then another egg omelet if I'm hungry for dinner or just my salad added chickpeas sometimes
For snacks I have carrots and walnuts and lots of water. Water water.
Just honest do not drink anything but water. Cut everything else out.
Don't even look at junk food if you're serious. Cut out sugar in everything you can. Always look at labels. Low fat can mean HIGH sugar.
One last thing which is the BIGGEST thing you could do.... Just do it. Don';t think twice. Get your salad and eat it.
When you over think things you talk yourself out of it and persuade yourself you'll go tomorrow.
I used to spend days PLANNING. Writing things down. What I should do... That gives someone a false sense of achievement and you don't actually go.
Now I try not to think too much. If you just leave the house and not think about working out before you know it you'll be in the gym. If I think about it it will come to 2pm and I have wasted a day and got laze.
As I type this to you I am feeling like I have done so much... truth be told I've failed a lot and not done half of what I should. Because I plan and plan... and feel like I have achieved something by writing it all down.
So yeh just get up and do it. Act like it's not a choice
Sorry for the long yapping. Let me know if you need anymore help
GOOD LUCK TO BOTH OF US!!

Drink more water, going to the sauna can help increase metabolism, read up on the internet foods that help boost your body system, green tea is meant to help with weight loss - but its not going to be over night but maybe the motivation you need is to buy yourself the dress the size you want to fit into and kick your own backside!
COME ON YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!0 -
Go you!

Agree with lots of this, mainly (for me) the red bits
A few years ago I drank only water, cut out all juice, tea and coffee. It done me the world of good... the whites of my eyes were mega white and my skin was perfect. I also lost of shed load of baby weight. It didn't happen in a month by any means but it deffo helped a LOT.
I need to lose a dress size too... I'm also a big planner and "I'll start tomorrow" has been going on for at least 2 months now
Starting is the hardest part but in the morning I'm back on 30 day shred. I HAVE to do this before I start some decorating and I need to do the decorating because my new cross trainer is still in the box and I can't build it until I've done the room were it'll live
Best of luck :TEven if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -

True and very sensible advice that.
Basically you are saying you are lazy, unless you change your mindset and help yourself, your health and how you want to feel about yourself nothing will change. Weight and health change isn't just for xmas............0 -
My other advice aside from the above is if you do have a bad day, then don't stress about it. Don't make it a bad week 'cos you've blown it'. Keep it at being a bad day. If you ate, say a top layer of a box of chocs in one evening, it's not the end of the world. Just don't touch anything else for the rest of the week. Then when you work it out it's been 2 chocs per day over 7. Same with anything else that might be your downfall.
So often I read weightloss threads on here and elsewhere and people seem to write off whole weeks before they've even got to them because they have a birthday and a night out planned. That's a very negative way of thinking - in fact it's thinking too much.0
