Braun Clean & Charge - cheap refill?

Hi,
I have one of those Braun electric shavers that sits in a base unit and then clenas itself using a lemony smelling alcohol from a cartridge in the base.
The replacement cartridges are £7.49 for two and it strikes me that you could quite simply empty out and refill them with say surgical spirit (perhaps afetr infusing with lemon rind/oil) and voila you'd save all that money.
Has anyone thought of this or have any better ideas? - or of course could anyone tell me why this wouldn't work?
