I often cell books/DVD's etc and this would save the queuing up at the post office each time just to get them weighed.
I guess the only downside to this is that you couldn't get a certificate of postage unless you still actually go into the post office?0 -
I re-use my junk mail and print the address labels on the back of this. Re-cycling and saving me time. HOW CAN I LOSE?0

Thank you for the links. I've just bought a template from ebay, I enquired at the local PO and I was told that they can be purchased from them and they cost £25 !!!!!!!!!!0

I have registered for the free service just in case it might be useful; I cannot image why anyone would want to pay a monthly subscription for the privilege, unless it is a business wishing to display their own logo.
What does put me off even experimenting is that I could not find on the Royal Mail site any facility to produce sample prints (for testing envelope or label alignment, etc).0 -
I've looked at the website for the pay-as-you go option, and it says that you can print to A4 A5 or A6 stationery. Since the easiest option would be to use sticky labels, can anyone tell me if printing to Avery L7169 labels works OK? (there are 4 per sheet)0

Am I missing something here?
Everything mentioned in this thread involves buying ink, buying labels, buying a measuring guide, using your own printer & PC etc.... so much for a FREE service.
I thought the point of this site was to save money. Even if you have to drive to your nearest Post Office to buy a stamp you couldn't lose out (you would have to go there to post the letter/parcel anyway)
Alternatively, buy a book of stamps from the supermarket when you do your weekly shop.0 -
Yeah, nice one folks, hope you realise your'e contributing to the death of the Post Office by encouraging this!0

You mean there are really people here who enjoy waiting around for 20 minutes for the privilege of posting £3 worth of eBay goodies?0 -

Actually I am usually the one causing the cue in the post office. We are its biggest customer and the post mistress herself has said that without our custom and the custom of the other village ebayers, it would be very difficult for her to stay open.
So I will continue to use my local rural Post office not because I enjoy cueing but because I am part of a community that needs its village shop and PO.Loving the dtd thread. x0
