Party Bag/Ideas for Themed Birthday Party for my 5 Year Old

HELP ME MONEYSAVERS!!

Has anyone got any idea for my 5 year old daughter's birthday party. I am being brave and inviting the whole class so I am going to order in a lot of the stuff, but i do want to do the decorations myself, but not sure which will be best for a community centre. The problem I have is, I have 30 children to keep entertained on a serious budget, I cannot afford an entertainer!!

I am ordering the party bags (boxes) from easypeasypartybox.co.uk because they look really good and well priced, but not sure which theme to go for! I need to think of some gmes to go with the theme as well! I'm thinking maybe Animal theme, or Princess. they also do christmas, and her birthday is in december so that could be an option. I just don't know!!

I am notorious for leaving things til the last minute, so trying to be organised for once!!

Anyone got any good ideas???

  • arghhhh - I just typed out a reply & the computer lost it. Gutted.
Anyway, just wanted to tell you that I did an at home party for my dd this year and I was the entertainment. Best advice is to plan ahead. I had a playlist on the ipod which included lots of their favourite songs, and I had a big bowl of sweeties at the ready for the prizes for the party games. I also had a long list of games. We did musical bumps, musical statues, hunt the thimble (I changed it to earring - I had hidden one, but I still had an identical one to show them what to look for), a treasure hunt (my kids were older, 7 & 8, so could already read), hokey cokey, dancing competition, pin the tail on the donkey, pass the parcel, etc etc (there was an excellent numbers game which was very popular, PM me if you want me to tell it to you). I'd say you plan the party for 1 and a half hours (not 2, unless there's a seasoned entertainer). Plan 1 hour for games & dancing, and half an hour for food. Don't go mad on decorations, some balloons will suffice. Or paperchains are effective & cheap. One top tip is to do 2 or 3 pass the parcels at the same time. With so many little ones it can take ages for the parcel to go all around the circle & they can get easily bored.
If you really really dont' want to do a lot of party games yourself, then I suggest getting a bouncy castle. You can get them for £35ish sometimes for weekdays & you'll just need to check there's room for it in the community centre. Kids love them & can easily bounce for an hour at a time. ah I wish I was planning it with you right now, I hope you get time to plan lots of fun things, she's a lucky girl having a mummy who is planning so far ahead.
