cleaning interview for nursing home

So my partner has got an interview for one of the local jobs he has applied for. It is a cleaning job and while he has done cleaning as part of previous jobs he hasn't actually had a cleaning job.

I used to work at the home he is interviewing at & I still work as bank staff there.

What sort of question could come up, from what I can tell from the cleaners already there they don't need experience already.

Should we be thinking along the lines of COSHH, health & safety, team work etc?

I'm not sure that they ask very taxing questions when I think about some of our hospital's cleaners. As a start, I would suggest he looks at the person specification and thinks about how he would demonstrate that he meets each criteria.
  • Yes, and combining thoroughness with speed.

I wouldn't worry too much though - we thought finding an office cleaner would be easy but it was a nightmare. We interviewed person after person and they all turned out to be weirdos in one way or another. In the end we got someone who cleaned the downstairs shop to do us as well. So there might not be as much serious competition as you expect...

    well:

    experience of commercial cleaning [d]
experience of cleaning to high standards [e]
    working with disabled people [d]
able to communicate with people at all levels [e]
able to perform manual tasks [e]
demonstrate an understanding of COSHH [d]
    basic literacy & numeracy [e]
appropriate NVQ or willingness to obtain [e]
    willingness to undertake training [e]

If he gets this job he won't have to commute each day but he will lose 12.5 hrs a week but get paid more per hr but still have a lower income by around £200 a month. He will be asking if he can get extra hours at his current company but a more local shop.
