can you put a single mattress topper on a double bed?

Options
Our double mattress on a wooden bedstead is only a couple of years old and my partner brought it with him when he moved in with me. However i am finding it very uncomfortable and getting back pain where as he sleeps like a baby!!! As we can't afford a new one at the mo i was wondering if i could fit a single mattress topper to my side of the double mattress to see if that softens the bed?

Advice appreciated please, getting desperate!!!

    Is this a serious question?
  • No need to be rude, I don't know how it would be secured on just two corners without it moving around and whether it is worth spending money out if it is unlikely to soften the mattress.

I guess it might depend on the nature of the mattress material. If it's quite slippery, I think you'd find that the topper did slide off (or at least around) regularly.

Perhaps get a cotton / quilted mattress protector and then put the topper on top of that, with the bottom sheet on top of the topper - there will be more friction between the protector and the topper, and it should hopefully stay put between the times you change the sheets.

Otherwise you're going to be attaching long loops of elastic or ribbon to all 4 corners of the topper and placing them round each corner of the mattress.
  • Thank you Yorkie1 I appreciate your constructive comments
