H2b's birthday at wedding, need suprise ideas!!

Hi our wedding day is also my h2b's 30th birthday and Im desperately racking my brains for ideas as a suprise?
I'm going to get him a birthday cake (thinking something either Lord of The Rings or Formula 1 car) and during the evening the band will do a big hoo haa for it. But would also like something else to suprise him with!!
Present wise I'm hoping to get him some kind of David Coulthard memorabilia, as well as the boudoir shoot Im doing before the wedding.
Someone had suggested a burlesque dancer, but Im not sure how it would go down at the reception (will be after 10pm when theres no kids there). Money is a limitation as to what we could do, and so Im stumped! Id love something special so that the milestone birthday isnt forgotten about within all the wedding buzz!!
Ideas, help and advice always welcome, judgements and assumptions are not!!

Present wise I'm hoping to get him some kind of David Coulthard memorabilia, If you write to his football team, most will send a signed picture or something (done well in advance) I've seen them with To x on your wedding day from xyz, you could ask them to write on your 30th and wedding day?

as well as the boudoir shoot Im doing before the wedding. Is this as a wedding present on the morning or to give as a birthday present? Only asking cos I think you're dead brave if he is to open it infront of your whole wedding party :rotfl:

I think it's lovely his 30th and wedding day are combined. Could you combine the cake, rather than having the birthday cake at night, maybe one birthday tier and one wedding?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • How well would he cope with photo-based humiliation? :p You could ask his parents for loads of photos of him from babyhood onwards, and either do a slideshow at the reception, or put them in a frame and present them to him?

Does he have any hobbies that you could incorporate into the day as a surprise, or favourite food that you could add to the buffet etc without telling him? We could have a brainstorm of ideas to see if we can come up with anything. :D One of the brides on the same month thread as me is secretly doing a cake of cheese (the ones with whole wheels of cheese stacked like a wedding cake) as a surprise for her husband - not his birthday, she just wants to!

Whatever you choose to do, just rest assured that he will never forget your anniversary! :rotfl:

I think a cake during the evening would be lovely...Im not sure if I would bother with a great big surprise if it were me I would probably just hand him an envelope with a personal message in and perhaps something like a voucher for an experience based thing like driving a ferrari or something similar that you could do whilst on honeymoon....that way there is still a bit of his birthday to look forward to

You probably dont need to overload the day too much with loads of presents...hopefully it will already be a birthday never to forget...

  • Thanks all!
he's not into football at all, his only sporty interest is Formula 1
Lol with the boudoir shoot I was planning on asking his best man to give him the wrapped album with a label "For Your Eyes Only!!" and inside the card will just say see you at the altar, within the album of classy shots (none will be nude!)
I would just love to see the look of complete surpise for him, so he knows how much I love and appreciate him! MaybeIm trying to go ott! When looking at dates he got genuinely excited at the thought of having our wedding day on his birthday, there was the joke of never forgetting his anniversary but then when we were in front of all my family he said he cant wait as hes getting the best birthday present ever...me as his wife!! (blushing!)

  • Maybe you could do something like the football team thing but with David Coulthard - he must have an agent or someone you could contact to get a letter from him?

ETA: Alternatively, I know it's not Formula 1 (or cheap - but maybe ask other family members/friends to chip in?), but how about a track day?

The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 5

  • Thanks for that, its worth a bash to see if I can get a signed card/poster or something for h2b.
Ive decided Im not going to go ott on suprises! The plan was for him to get a taxi to the hotel the day of the wedding, but Im going to arrange for him to be picked up by a ferrari or something similar, then the cake in the evening. The F1 simulators are fab but almost £1000, and I think there would be a few annoyed wives and girlfriends when their men disappear all night to play toy cars!x

Surely he's not based at Milton Keynes now that he doesn't drive for RBR, he does have a Twitter account though so you could maybe try contacting him via that or send a DM
