To make it even simpler for the IFA we are putting in new contributions using the previous 3 years unused allowances so no transfers from other pension pots required.
We had discussed with the IFA transferring other pensions into a SIPP for them to provide advice on traditional equity investments and I can understand a higher fee on this aspect but not the property part of the SIPP. That feels like giving away thousands of pounds for nothing. The other thing that annoys me is if we bought a cheaper property for £100k they would get £3k for doing exactly the same work. The more the property costs the worse the scenario is for us without any reason. The IFA mentioned something about the larger the value the higher the professional indemnity insurance risk is but other than that a percentage fee seems inappropriate.0 -
