you may have restricitons put on your job seekers allowance for upto 6 months if you attempt to claim that, not sure of any other benefits though
it will also depend on why you walked out of your jobmortui non mordent0 -
Your barred for 26 weeks before you can make a claim, I'm not sure about housing benefits etc.0

It depends why you left. I left my last job because the job changed and I wasn't sanctioned at all.0

That's not true. You can be sanctioned for up to 26 weeks but it's rarely that long.
What the OP should do is apply for JSA, then will be asked why they left the previous job and the ex-employer will be contacted to get their side of what happened. A decision maker then decides if JSA will be sanctioned and for how long. Until the decision it will be paid.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Once the sanction has elapsed, if you are on contribution based JSA would you still get your full 6 months pay or would you just get it for the period remaining of the six months ie is the sanction just a delay, or does it erode the period of entitlement? thanks0

You get it for the period remaining. For example if you'd had two months and then were sanctioned for one month you would have a further three months of JSA. The date your entitlement finishes doesn't change.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
