    They can withhold money from pooled cash tips as well if it is for a genuine reason eg making up money missing from the till. Being stung by a fake note would also fall into this category.

    Thanks for clarifying Jarndyce. Crappy rule tho eh? Considering tips = good staff and good staff = repeat custom.

    I always tip in cash too. Preferably directly into the hand of the waiting staff that served me. Never saw the sense in putting a tip onto a credit card bill.
