Popcorn maker - £3.74 - Tesco

Wanted a popcorn maker for ages, but they always seem to exspensive.

Went to my local Tesco Extra last nite, and they had these reduced down to £3.74....

Really good for the price, and my kids will have fun making popcorn in it :j

Might be some for sale in other Tesco's.

Hope that helps someone

i find the problem is actually finding the popcorn to use! Popcorn makers are easy to find but the popcorn is very hard. In the end I took the popcorn maker back to Argos after xmas as I had no success in getting popcorn. I do find the popcorn to microwave in the bags is as good as anything!
    Just about to give up!

You can buy the popcorn in Holland and Barrett.

If you cant get one of the Tesco ones, its always worth asking on Freecycle for one.

try any indian grocery stores, it's about 99p for a massive bag of the kernels and then pop away!
  • you can also do popcorn kernals in the microwave... I surgest a glass dish with a lid (ie pirex dish)
    Plastic ones will melt

(save on buying the machine in the first place)

i have an electric popcorn maker. bought a cheap one in Tchibo. it makes horrible popcorn that is slightly soft and chewy. it tastes stale as if it has been standing for days. :-( i spoke to someone online about this and they said it was because the wattage / voltage (or something like that) was too low. this happens with the cheaper brands, apparently. (when cooked on the stove top the kernals tasted fine so it wasn't my popcorn.)

now I have a gadget that I don't use and can't give away as it's rubbish. no saving there at all.

love the idea of trying it inthe microwave, tho. will try that next time I am feeling peckish... thanks for that.

I always find it really easy in a saucepan with a lid. Just put a bit of oil in the bottom, wait until it's really hot, throw enough corn in to cover the bottom of the pan then put the lid on. Wait for the popping to slow down/stop and take off the heat. I've never burnt a pan or anything.

I also sometimes buy my kids microwave popcorn, Lidl have it for 89p a box.
