Claiming JSA overseas

I was making enquiries about claiming Jobseekers Allowance while looking for a job in Germany. As I have been unemployed for more than six months, I am only entitled to Income-based JSA. My local JobcentrePlus informed me that as I am receiving Income-based JSA, I do not qualify to receive JSA in Germany, but if I was receiving Contribution-based JSA, I would qualify. Why is this and is it set in stone? Is it not flexible?

Contribution based JSA is based on your previous N.I contributions, if you don't have these then you'l receive Income Based.

It's not flexible. If you want to look for work in Germany then claim the local German version of Jobseekers. You'll qualify if you have worked in Germany in the recent past.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

You cant claim JSA here when looking for work in germany as your not looking for work in the UK which is aprt of your agreement for JSA
  • Sorry, DCFC79, but you are mistaken. You CAN claim if you are in receipt of Contribution-based JSA:
