There isn't really any place on the SoA for that cost toby. I guess you could have created a seperate line for it but it doesn't really matter now you've said what it is.
On a related note - how long do you have left on the mortgage? Is your endowment still on track to pay off the mortgage? Just wondering if you really need to try to budget extra savings.

Good news if you've double counted the household costs - certainly looks like that puts you in a better position, but I guess the next thing is to consider if you do have that money spare each month? If you don't then keeping a detailed spending diary for a couple of months will help your find out what costs are underestimated in your statement of affairs (or where you are 'wasting' money without realising it).

Is it a good team you support? :D

  • Tixy -the mortgage has 13 yrs left and yes the last letter said it was on track to pay it with a surplus.

when i initially saw that i had adeficit of £125 i thought that it sounded a lot more than i was aware of likewise with a £125 surplus per month so yes a diary would be a good idea.
I have been following one of the challenges on another board of no spend month and have gone 8 days so far and spent 75p although helps been stuck in the house.

Since leaving my previous job I have stopped drinking and smoking only a few lapses every so often usually combining both habits can't have one without the other, reduced my shopping(aldi now and charity shops), using old style boards for mealplans,i grow my own veg and research just about everything i buy so by doing this SOA might just push me that little further down the road.

Believe me its not a good team and if i put it on here a lot of people wouldn't understand why i spend £40 pm.

there's always room for reducing your bills with suppliers etc.

i used to be with BG for my boiler cover, but changed to EON when BG became too dear (with cashback from Quidco). Stayed with BG for gas fire cover as they don't do that.

recently was about to change my energy supplier, but on phoning my existing one they were able to find me an equivalent deal:)

rang sky to say they were charging too much as compared to other suppliers - didn't have to threaten to cancel (but many others on here have) and got 25% off for 12 months.

also am with BT for phone and b/band. My 'contract' was up so asked them about a b/band deal for loyal customers - got 1/3 off for 12 months plus paid the line rental in advance for £10 a month (includes eve/wknd calls).

so, that's a bit for you to do whilst off!

agree with others re. trying to combine deals - we live in a village with dodgy b/band, so i don't have too much wiggle room.

Sorry to hijack op, thank you for this, I didn't you could do this, Is their anyway I could pay a little extra to keep the rewind/pause function, had a look on Sky website, but its next to useless, they want me to keep my current subscription and I only pay so i can rewind etc.
  • just a quick update from yesterday:

Well got myself together today and rang sky to see if there was any way to reduce my bill, she looked through the plan I have and I have taken off the kids, knowledge and music option which is rarely used with a saving of £4.50pm.I can make a further saving of £10.25 by changing the mutiroom into freesat going to look through the channels available before deciding.

Anyway as i said i was looking to reduce the package she asked about my phone broadband to see if she could save me money by combining it with my sky.
She went on to offer me it first of all at £12.25 for phone free eve/wk ends. With £7.50 for the broadband connection with £39 one off conection charge charge.I said I would find out how long my TalkTalk account has left, she replied that comp has just come up that she can give me the line rental free for next 12 months so only £7.50 + £39 connection fee sounds like a result to me so she is phoning back in morning once spoken to talktalk.

So I get on the phone to TalkTalk and ask how long I have left on deal unfortunatly this is 11 months but he asks why I wish to know so I tell him about Sky offer for some reason he offers me a deal at £21 pm whereby I repeat Sky have offered it to me for £7.50 a month so could he tell me what it would cost to terminate my contract he says £88
    BUT
He would like to offer me a deal for the next 12 months minus the line rental at £6.50 for the broadband.:j

So today I have reduced my outgoings by £27 in two phonecalls which will be £324 a year which could use on my credit card payments.

Thats great news - especially on the talktalk deal considering you were already tied in for a good while.
