Hi Pinkie
you've dine the right thing in reliquishing power to your lovely mum.
I agree with comments about buying with cash for a while at least.
It's something I can't bring myself to do. Excuse for me is I use my card to get pointsa for shopping. The truth, I suspect, is that I don;t want to find myself unable to buy something because I've not got enough cash to do so. Yes, I know, a crazy way to think when you're trying to be more careful with money!!
Don't beat yourself up over times when you do step back a bit. Be proud of the steps forward that you are making. However small.
So sorry to hear about your car. Isn't that just typical!
Keep posting on here.
I recommend you do a spending diary. It's certainly helping me to reign in some of my spending.
(I had a similar eBay outbid situation a few times lately - which I was very relieved at and which shows me just how much I buy/ebay that is just spontaneous purchases rather then thought through).
Keep going, my dear. you'll get there. Good luck with the house!0
