Hi all.
Ok, I have had problems getting work etc then I thought I'd go for the career change and so on.
I'm a female painter and decorator, get offers for work in the commercial sector BUT they want a CRB. I can't get it as I have no employment offered and the industry seems to work, that if you don't have one there is no job but I can't get one until I have a job offer ggggrrrrrr!!!
These contracts are temp for around 6-8 weeks at a time so that's why they won't wait to get it done, the work is immediate start. I'm so stuffed! Talk about viscious circle. Can anyone please urgently help me out? I've spoken to Direct gov thingy, done all that. Any suggestions?
Just want to go to work

Can you ask them how they get round this with other contractors who are sole traders? Are you going to be working with children or vulnerable people on a 1-2-1 basis? If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

Speak to your local Voluntary Action, they hopefully will be able to tell you as they act as an umbrella body for organizations wanting these done.0

Hi OP
I recently got offered a job and was told I need to get a CRB done to take it and contacted the Criminal Records Bureau who said employer would need to do a full CRB. When I got back to the employer about it they said they wanted me to get a "basic CRB disclosure" which I could do myself - I just googled it and several companies came up offering this service.
I did end up paying ~£40 for it rather than the £26 the Criminal Records Bureau charge (I only did it a week ago & they take ~10-12 days to arrive so can't tell you if they company I went with are any good etc though)

Strictly, employers are not entitled to CRB's unless the job is with vulnerable people.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Here's one. Seems to be a reasonable price. http://www.cbscreening.co.uk/crb-checks0

Some employers in financial services can request CRB checks.0 -
Some of the contracts are in schools hence the requirement so the basic is not acceptable, because companies want you within a few days, I haven't time to get a check done before contract starts. But thank you all for the replies. I'll have a dig around on the sites suggested. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. You need to find an umbrella organisation to process your crb. It will take about 2 weeks - maybe slightly longer if it is your 1st one.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -
