If I was to go on a debt managment plan (a one that I do myself) how do I inform provident?
do I tell the lady that comes to my door every week or do I write to head office?
I am keeping up with payments for now(but struggling-have been since I came on here!) and was advised yesterday-by the bank to do my own debt management plan-I know to write to all the other companies but provi worry me as they come to my door-the lady is lovely but I don't want her to get nasty as she will be losing a LOT of commision from me!!!!!

My advice would be to write to your local area office, I have done a dmp of my own and I am also with the provident (long story) they were fine about it and phoned me to say that they would accept and if anything changed to let them know. As far as I am aware they are quite happy as long as they are getting some sort of payment. My payment is more than halved. It cant do any harm to try. There are templtae letters on the site for writing to companies, I used one of these but cant seem to find it just now. Someone more helpful may come along.0

Hi Cattie1
Just write to head office with an inc/exp & an offer of payment & just tell agent when she calls. As you know agent is paid on commission so will try to get you to pay more.Dont!!
If you have a couple og quid left in a week join a local credit union.

Write to head office:
Colonnade
Sunbridge Road
Bradford
BD1 2LQ
They will withdraw the debt from their local collector when they receive your SoA and will collect the payments via their solicitor CK Edrupt. They have the best customer service in the business. I have never known them refuse an offer and they are almost always the first to reply.
They are also easy to talk to on the phone and Greenwood is the same company.
I think what it boils down to is that they understand their customer base.0 -
