Debt collection agency???

I've had a postcard today from a company called PDRS Ltd in Leeds saying they've been trying to contact me and they've been unsuccessful so they've been instructed to assign a rep to call at my home in the next 3 days (no date on postcard) and if I want to avoid this I'm to call them. I've never heard of them, they have definitely never contacted me and I've no idea what it's about and not sure what to do. I can't find anything out about them but I assume they're a debt collection agency but not sure if I should call them or not.
Any advice appreciated

I quick google, and yes they are debt recovery. I wouldn't call them, but write instead (recorded so they can't say they haven't received it) asking them to write to you to explain what they want - make sure you don't acknowledge any debt (I wouldn't even use the work debt as they haven't)
There's good template letters on here somewhere...Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Do not let them into your house? Once they have been invited in, then they, evidently, have a right to break in next time.
If they have never been invited in, then they can only enter via an open window or door. They can not break in.
I only read this yesterday on a legal question/answer forum. The source is of unknown reliability.FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0 -
Thanks
I've just written a quick letter saying that I've never had any communication from them and I do not know who they are and therefore could they inform me in writing why they are trying to contact me and what business they have with myself.
Off to post it now. I didn't want to call them in case it could be construed as accepting a debt that quite frankly I have no knowledge of and you hear such dodgy things about these companies.
Thanks again0 -
im sorry but this is incorrect were talking a debt collection agency they have no right to enter any property and niether do you have to pay them any money owed . what you refer to is a baillif and they are only permitted to take goods after they have been given permision by your local county court .prudryden wrote:Do not let them into your house? PDRS are Penine Debt Recovery serivces or specialists (can't remember off the top of my head what the S stands for - but can think of plenty of less than complimentary names!).
I had a similar experience with them when I started on my DMP. I think they were representing Northern Rock at the time - but they seem to represent a number of companies.
The postcards really annoyed me - deliberately intended to cause embarrassment if you share a house. I made the mistake of calling them once. Spoke to really nasty piece of work who made me feel like crap. (Easily done at the time as I had just started on the DMP and had massive family problems at the time).
They eventually gave up and NR eventually accepted my DMP.
Like you, they had made no attempt to contact me prior to sending the card. Have you any idea who they might be representing?0 -

Just had a card myself. Thanks to these forums my panic has turned into resolve and I'm just off to post a registered letter.0
