Decent Bacon

Can anyone recommend a nice unsmoked bacon? I have been buying Aldi be light bacon for ages, but lately they have hardly ever had it in stock and it has gone up in price when they do have it, plus is seems to be cut thicker now and I really don't like thick cut bacon. I would really like to buy the premium dry cure stuff but funds are tight at the moment.
I saw bacon in Farm foods at the weekend but didn't know what it would be like - plus I don't think it was British.
Anyone recommend anything?

We buy the farm foods bacon, 3 packs for £6. We find it great including my fussy children, so it must be good! I can't tell you whether it's British or not though sorry.0

Iceland have British unsmoked dry cure bacon at £1 for 200gm.
My one gripe is that it's not thicker cut, so it may suit your requirements.0 -
Farmfoods bacon is nice, 3 huge packs for £6.
Just checked a pack i have and it says product of EU.0 -
I buy Milton gate from Lidl, its dry cured and £1.99 and very nice compared to the wet cured stuff.
However, we ate at a Heston Blumenthal inspired Little Chef (the Black Cat somewhere near Cambridge) and the bacon with the Olympic breakfast was heavenly, I wish I had asked where it came from. Normal little chef bacon is just average. Anybody work in little chef like that and know the supplier ? I would send for it specially, it was so good.0 -
Another vote for the farmfoods bacon from me, what I really like about this bacon is you dont get any water or salt coming out of it when cooking, I hate that gloopy stuff thats in the pan or grill when cooking some bacon.
3 x 600gms for £6 a right bargains as well.
1 pack is £2.50

I think I will give the Farmfoods bacon a go as kids eat loads of bacon and it can be really expensive (especially when I used to buy the premium dry cured stuff which I prefer).
Thanks for the comments!Jane
