No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in November Challenge

That Secret Santa sounds like a nice idea! Well, the Avon arrived. Phew. The rep put the new catalogue through the door, with her mobile no. I texted her and she brought it round that evening. She said she had been round, when I was out. Son won't answer door as it's never for him. Sigh.
So some IN's to declare.
Winter Delight 250ml Shower Gel. Smells gorgeous, spicy and fruity.
Foot Works Cinnamon and Orange foot cream. See above comments!
Skin so Soft Dry oil spray.
Frosted Rose lippy.
I also got some earrings that are really lovely and three very nice glass ornaments for the Christmas tree. Which will be going up in about a fortnight. Last year it was Dec 22/23 and after four hours of putting decs on it, seemed next to no time before I was taking them down again!
I put in another order with the Avon, there may be a small hover round the naughty step as the vanilla body whip was on offer.
A UU Original Source Chocolate and Mint Shower Gel. WIBA? No, not this one. I thought 'Ooh CHOCOLATE!' when I saw it in Wilko's. But it just isn't the sort of scent you want to wash with, it turns out. I used it with the Cocoa Bodylishuss Body Butter and I did smell very chocolatey, but again, it wasn't quite as nice as I imagined it would be. That's only the second OS shower gel I don't care for. The other is Black Pepper and Cardamom. There's a huge range that I DO like!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Oooh, that sounds sensible But what about non Facebookers? - I just thought we. Could do it by pm on here, if anyone interested pms me with name address age and any relevant details (allergies or real likes/dislikes!!) I would draw people out of hats... As for value, retail value of at least a fiver? That way nobody is left with just a single 89p face mask....?????
Sounds like a good idea!I've seen other threads on here locked because of address swapping on mse though so we have to be careful
Could always PM you an 'email' address...

You're going at just the right time as they all start around that date - we went last year and there was a few nice stalls - but York is fab at xmas time anyway, it just seems more festive IYKWIM :rotfl: We usually go a little later than we have done this year and were quite sad to miss all the lights and things this time
Thanks for the link Sarah. Will have a nosey in a mo.
I don't mind joining Secret Santa as long as it's restricted to £5.00 cos I'm already in one at work for £10.00. That has actually caused a War at work. It was suggested that everyone write on their piece of paper three suggestions of gifts they would like for £10.00 which was so that if anyone got someone they did not know they wouldn't have problems or either embarrass/offend the person and as it's a sizeable amount to spend get something that they would actually want. Well, one woman has kicked off big style saying this is not "secret" and there's little point in doing it so her team have joined in with her. I said she should just write down "buy me anything" if she doesn't want to make suggestions and she didn't like this either. Isn't it the Season of Gooidwill?
OPI TSV on QVC tomorrow and thankfully it looks drab. Unfortunately there are some sets of the new muppet colours being aired. Am glad I'm at work.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I just figure if its got a minimum retail value you wont get anyone feeling a bit cheated by having something tiny or really cheap/nasty - and Im pretty sure if I hunt in my stash for it (which is where I had in miind for "shopping"!!) what I dont mind SSing will probably come to more than that in rrp value, but to me its not worth anything like that cos I dont want it !! (if that makes sense??)
We are doing one on the horse and hound forum - its got a minimum spend of £10 (so nobody ends up with just a hoof pick!) and there has been a thread doing the rounds about what your likes and dislikes are and what size are you etc (!!!) has caused huge hoo haa on there cos some people think its really rude to say what you would like (not the dislike part!!) and downright cheeky to say what clothes size you are - but when you dont know someone its hard to know what to get them.
Us lot being toiletries magnets shouldnt be too much of a problem - and I agree - its an extra present and tis the thought that counts, I love everything !! (though I do think the allergy thing should be considered!!!!)Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
I would love to be in the secret Santa!0

Hello ladies,
Trudij - the scret santa is a great idea, although I will need to have a look at what I could send - postage from Switzerland is horrendous if the parcel is over 2cms thick! I'll let you know.
2 UUs here:
Lidl handcream 75ml - WNBA. This was an "emergency" buy, it did the job but was nothing special, no scent.
Boots Moisturising lotion for men. Somehow my hubby ended up with this and is of the "men do not use such things" belief. I uu-ed it as a foot cream. Needless to say WNBA.
I also binned an old Sally Hansen lipgloss, it was a gift but very sticky & didn't like it.
I think this month has been the worst for UUS since I started this challenge.
Have a good day.Do nothing in haste; look well to each step; and from the beginning think what may be the end - Edward Whymper0 -
Finally another UU. Tesco Value Shower Gel! thoughts on secret santa......how about using a jiffy bag(recycled of course!) with a satndard or max size of 10 x8 (inches of course I don't do "new" money:rotfl:)and using items we did not actually buy such as sachets from mags and things from bonus bags and putting a min number of items of different sorts of things?
i always stick to the same brands(as with clothes) so this could be a chance to try new items. As long as we don't include anything to way out and put in items we would like to get ourselves(all new of course)for me the money limit would not work as no idea what things from bonus bags would cost and as I but clinique/clarins/ysl/occitanne type stuff these are expensive anyway(hence all my bonus buys!!)0 -
Can I join?
I wrote most of my list three days ago, and have already crossed a few bits and bobs off (splutterers). Make up list isn't really comprehensive yet, as you can probably tell!:o
I'm moving in three weeks and am trying to use up as much as possible (whilst not wasting) before I go (along with my bulging food cupboard).

Looking forward to the TSS
INs
Boots Trial Night Cream - not requested-sent anyway
Boots Trial Body Lotion - as above
I've been saying no to all facial skincare tests and body lotions as I really can't handle adding more to my stash *sigh* Yet they must know I have an addiction!!!
VALM I keep meaning to ask, I've only tried mini OPIs and found them gloopy and difficult to apply. Is that how the larger ones are too (I'm guessing the consistency is because they're lacquers and not polishes), and are the brushes better/easier to apply with on the full size bottles. *Disclaimer:this information is for research only and [STRIKE]does[/STRIKE] doesn't mean I will be buying*No buying unnecessary toiletries/makeup in May: Unnecessary spend £17.60
May INs: 14 UUs/OUTs/GAs: 11
2012 INs: 77 UUs/OUTs/GAs: 91
Savings from UUs: £60.50
