Scoring takes into account hundreds of possible factors, payment history is but one.

The way code writers develop scoring systems is by comparing a persons life to the life of those that have got into payment difficulty.
So for example the hard cold stats reveal such factors as being a smoker is strongly aligned with payment difficulty, or being from certain parts of the country, certain types of job and also lifestyle factors such as whether you are separated.

Even not having a landline number reveals a striking correaltion where payment difficulty occurs.

It's all to do with Human pyschology. In simple terms anorak careful types tend not to experience payment problems and by thier very nature they tend to be more settled and not job / address hop, tend to have a landline no, tend to be generally a settled person, tend to be cautious in thier habits (more likely to be thin in fact which may reflect this cautious approach), tend to stay with one Bank a very long time and so on.

Essentialy if you want good credit - do the things anoraks do!

Whoa!! Your score jumped 260 points to an almost a flawless score just by paying some money off your credit card! Imagine that, an almost perfect score yet you still have a history of missed payments and are not officially on the Electoral roll.

    That's amazing

If they took into account sarcasm, I'm sure you'd be off the scale!

Hi guys, I am having a simliar problem. Not being able to get credit anywhere at the monet but I did get a loan from my bank at the end of July. Went to get a catalogue today, for some xmas shopping and refused again. I am not on the electoral role, but I will get this changed.

I have also tried getting a credit report through callcredit (recommended on this site) and it did not find any details for me?!

Why a catalogue for xmas shopping ?

    and which catalogue ?
