I'm just wondering....How long does a levy last for? I'm asking as a bailiff once did a levy on my car but it's only worth about £50 scrap so not actually worth taking but if I fixed it, put an mot on it, insured and taxed it it might just be worth a bit more.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Card Charge: £2.00 - they can do this

they should not be charging a card fee

Certificated Bailiffs are governed by the distress for rent rules 1988

    Fees, Charges and Expenses

    10. No person shall be entitled to charge, or recover from, a tenant any fees, charges or expenses for levying a distress, or for doing any act or thing in relation thereto, other than those authorised by the tables in Appendix 1 to these Rules.

a car in this state should not be levied

goods levied should cover all bailiff fees including removal fees ,storage fees, auction fees, and a portion of the principle debt

a levy lasts as long as there is an amount outstanding against the liability order

however if a bailiff levies goods and no payment(s) are made and the bailiff does not get in touch with debtor in a reasonable period of time the levy could be classed as abandoned

    in other words
    levy on 1st January 2011
no payment agreement or payments made
    no contact from bailiff

Bailiff turns up in June 2011 threatening to remove the goods this could be classed as an abandoned levy

the council have told us how much the three LOs owned by equita are for but so far equita have been very uspecific
the man at the door just said pay 500 within a week and sort out the rest into payments later - he mentioned no amounts
and the letter he left did not mention any amounts at all
and yes i think my ebay account is going to be very busy for the next few weeks
she does not claim single person anything as we live together legitemately
so as i work we do not claim rent help or council tax help either

    in response to hallowitch
i have lived here with her all along so i accept that the responsibility is shared, thats why i want this sorting ASAP
i work a lot of hard hours to keep things going and i dont plan on letting this STUpid mistake destroy our family life
thanks for the advice i think my Father in law may have to "buy" his car back.

Bailiffs: This film goes undercover to investigate the behaviour of the bailiffs instructed to chase millions of householders and car owners each year.

It asks whether the voluntary guidelines that bailiffs are meant to follow are enough to protect the public.
