i'm blatant and would just tell 'em that its bring a bottle. If they turned up at mine without a drink they would be pointed the direction of the nearest shop!

:T love it!!
I would do exactly that too... especially if they are coming to chomp on your pizzas and chilli!!!!!
I think nowadays (unless people are really stuck in the 70's or 80's!), it's pretty much given that you go to someones house and you take a bottle of something or a few beers!!!0 -
I never turn up to a party empty handed, neither do the majority of my friends so I wouldn't really need to mention it.
I know one couple who regularly turn up to parties without anything but they're always the ones putting on invites to their parties 'Bring a bottle' or to their BBQ's, 'Bring beer and meat!'. TBH I find that quite rude as we would bring booze to a party and food to a BBQ anyway as it is good manners but we don't like to be told what to bring!
Obviously it depends on your friends and what they're like when it comes to these things, but personally I wouldn't ask for anything on the invite but just make it clear that food and mulled wine is being served, if they're picky about what they drink they'll surely read between the lines and bring their own bottles. If people come to ours they know that beer and white wine is available, if they want to drink cider or red wine etc, then they'll bring it themselves or be directed to the nearest shop!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
last summer we had a backyard party for all our neighbours, a kind of informal bbq. It spiralled out of proportion though with regards to numbers and we ended up telling people to bring their own burger, bottle AND chair! No-one was offended and everyone sort of mucked in which was tremendous & added to the atmosphere.0
