the first thing everyone will ask you to do is post a statement of affairs, there's a template on one of the sticky posts on this board. do you really want to get another loan/credit card? maybe if you post your soa we can suggest ways to cut back so you don't need to get a loan.

Don't be quick to rush into more credit, but I do agree starting to rebuild your credit file is a good idea, especially if you want a mortgage in the future (assuming you already do not have one).

You need to contact the credit reference agencies and get a copy of your report to see if the bankruptcy has been updated to show that you are now discharged. Although bankruptcy will stay on your file for 6 years.

I am not too sure on the impact of the later on obtaining new credit.

There is a a bankruptcy supporters thread that will probably be the best place for your questions. Do a seach, but it is quite easy to find.
  • You ned to get copies of the CRF's and ensure they have een updated by the creditors.. if not then ask them to do this and if they refuse complain to the Information Commissioner..

When everything is settled, maybe look at getting a prepaid credit card.. cant remember who does them, but they do exist.. or look at trying to get a catalogue.. start small and build up... but remember every company you go to may credit check you and the searche remain on your CRF for 1 year.. which doesnt look good if there are loads..
