Good Place to eat Ballymoney/Coleraine?

I'm taking an elderly couple to see some of their relatives in the Coleraine/Ballymoney area this week. Could anyone recommend somewhere I can take them for an evening meal? They like to eat around 5pm which would be just as most of the cafes close. Neither of them eat a lot and would just be looking for some plain, Ulster food - any suggestions? They are also hard of hearing so I've found that they usually struggle if I take them for pub food.

The royal court outside portrush is good, nice private bays to eat and talk in.
The Anglers rest, vow road, ballymoney
bushtown hotel just outside coleraine is good, with an ambient setting in both the Stables Restaurant and the Bays lounge0 -
Just on the edge of Coleraine at Riverside retail Park, where the big Sainsburys is, there are a few nice restaruants, there is pub grub in the Premier Inn Restaurant just as you turn into the retail Park. Theres also 2 excellent restaurants together just beside McDonalds, one is called Charcos, but they do pretty big sized portions, but they are very yummy.
I think try the Premier Inn restaurant first and check out their menu. Whenever I'm visitng my parents in Ballymoney, we normally go to these restaurants for dinner, around 5-6pm0 -
I would suggest the Premier Inn too, mainly because the restaurant has lots of nooks and crannies which gives a real feeling of privacy, and more importantly noise reduction. My Dad is hard of hearing too and lots of 'chattering' and background music really gets on his nerves as his hearing aid picks up everything at the same noise level, so it's like white noise. People with hearing aids can't distinguish between sounds like most of us, so they can't 'tune in' to a conversation across the table and 'block out' background noise like most people automatically do.
My Dad and I had lunch at the Premier Inn, and it was fantastic. Each little section had a feeling of being in your own room. The noise from other tables was non existent and the background music was kept quite low. The food was good, I'm not vegetarian but I really enjoyed the vegetarian lasagne and also a bread basket.
On the subject of background music, don't be afraid to politely ask the staff to turn it down a bit.0 -
